I've read several books related to historic photographs while I was still a secondary school student. I remembered that most of the photographs, which were taken before 1940s, on the book are in black and white. Due to this, it gave me a wrong image about when colour photography was explored throughout. At first, I believed that colour photography would be invented around the period of early 20th century. Why did I question the history of photography? It's because I found one of the wartime photographs is in colour(which was taken in 1917), while I was surfing Wikipedia for the information related to the WWI today. The colour quality of that photograph is too hard to persuade me to believe the photo was taken in 1917 (although the photograph has been digitally edited to restore color balance). I was shocked and willing to find out the answer of when colour photography was invented. Well~ In fact, Wikipedia is really an useful web site for finding answers. It seems to have a huge bank of information about every thing. Last time, I've found a lot of information related to the Study of Youkai in Japan. As I mentioned before, Wiki also has lots of historical graphic in the data base, which included maps, picture and photographs. That's also the most attractive point for me to always visit Wiki! XDDDD IT's REALLY GREAT!!!!!! Ah... Let's come back to something related to the topic of today's diary...XDDD After surfing on Wiki for a few minutes, I found that colour photography was invented during the 19th century and the first colour photograph was taken in 1861 by the Scottish physicist James Clerk Maxwell. Owing to the early limitation of the technology, full sensitivity to light of some colours was not achieved in the 19th century. So that, the colours of early colour photos are quite strange...and the colour is just like the paint finished by using colour pencils! Finally, I found that I'd seen some early colour photographs before but I thought they were coloured by colour pencils at that time...=口= How ignorant am I !!!! Orz ...It's a good experience for me... |
